Your First Visit to a Tenerife Social Club: What to Expect
Bring your ID
Strictly 18+ and ID is non-negotiable — it's the law and it protects the association. Your name goes on the members' list from your purchase, but that list is a starting point, not a golden ticket. Staff will verify you in person. Come with a passport or national ID to make this the easiest part.
Show your pass, then set it down
Your membership gives you a digital pass with a QR code and a member serial. You might be asked to show it at the door, and staff can verify it on the spot. After that, put the phone away for a while — the point of a lounge is the room, not the screen.
The room itself
Expect a proper members' room: a bar without the bar crowd, games, music, sofas that ask you to stay. At Mr Chong'z that means PS5, billiards, ping-pong, a gym out back, board games and fast wifi. It's a private social club first — the shared interest is the membership, the hospitality is the point.
The etiquette that keeps you asked back
Be decent to staff, neighbours and other members. Don't assume, ask. Don't take photos of other members without asking. Keep consumption to the designated space and out of the street. Order a drink if you'd like one, tip if you feel like it, and treat the house like a guest would. Clubs remember who's easy to host.
If the door says no
It can happen — membership makes you eligible, it doesn't guarantee entry, and that's written in the statutes for a reason. If the door declines, don't argue; ask what changed and whether a return visit makes sense. Most of the time the answer is yes. When it is, you're in one of the friendlier corners of Tenerife Sur.
